Karlovasi

Karlovasi is a town on the northern coast of the island of Samos, Greece. It grew into a center of the island's leather-tanning industry in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and the tannery buildings of Old (Palaio) Karlovasi remain a distinctive part of the townscape today. The town is home to a campus of the University of the Aegean, giving it a notable student population relative to its size. Nearby beaches along Samos's north coast, including Potami with its freshwater waterfalls, and ferry connections to other northeastern Aegean islands, make Karlovasi a base for exploring the island.
